They say you never forget your first love, and in my case, that first love was a house! As a child, I distinctly remember falling in love with an old Bungalow home right here in Brookside, Kansas City. That sparked my passion for old homes, and I have been learning (and loving) everything about old houses for most of my life.

In Ellen’s Own Words:
I have been in and around the real estate and home industry for all my life. Growing up in Parsons, Kansas, I was immersed in the home-building side of the business as my family owned a successful kitchen cabinet manufacturing company, Grandview Products, for over 72 years. Life then took me to Madison, Wisconsin, where I worked in roofing and then as a kitchen and bath contractor as well as a home products supplier for Pella Windows.
Working on both the contractor side and the manufacturing side of the industry paired well with my love for old and historic homes. All of these careers shaped and developed my knowledge of homes and thoroughly prepared me for my current role as a Realtor and old house specialist.
When I moved back to Kansas City to be closer to family, I knew exactly where I wanted to live: Brookside! I fell in love with a 100+ year old home in Wornall Homestead, and after a long renovation process, it has truly become my dream home. Through that process, I discovered my next career move. As a Brookside real estate agent, I love working with would-be home buyers and sharing my deep knowledge of old homes with them. When it comes to buying and living in these homes, I want to make sure the new owners understand all the quirks and nuances that come with owning historic properties. For sellers, I work with the homeowner to complete a comprehensive to-do list to fully prepare their home for the market. My goal is to ensure their property is presented in the best possible light and appeals to a wide range of potential buyers.
My past buyers will tell you that working with me comes with a new level of peace of mind. I work hard to help my buyers avoid all the mistakes I witnessed in the past. Long after closing day, I want to be the first person my buyers call when they have a house-related question or need a trusted recommendation. In fact, I have an extensive I’ve Got a Guy network so that I can provide my buyers and sellers with trusted repair and service providers for any and all house-related scenarios!
In 2026, I joined a new brokerage – Real Brokerage. My partnership with Real allows me to continue to give my clients the same personalized service and local real estate expertise they know me for. Real is a modern real estate company focused on providing the tools and technology agents like me rely on for smooth, fast transactions. Plus, it gives me more freedom to spend time doing what I love: finding buyers their next dream home, answering all their “old house” questions, and recommending trusted professionals from my I’ve Got a Guy network!
