Sip on Spring with Ellen’s Local Favorites

Refreshing. Rejuvenating. Inspiring. Ellen’s list of local mouthwatering cocktails will have you feelings all things spring.

Whether you’re looking to relax after a long day or you’re trying to be healthy and keep it zero proof, there’s something delightful and delicious for everyone in Ellen’s sparkling finds.

Best of all, these delectable drinks are all from right here in the Kansas City area! Sip a little something and support your local community? Yes please.

Cocktails

First on the list is a refreshing gem from Brookside’s own Brookside Barrio. The Barrio’s “El Pepino Margarita” is made with “cucumber-mint infused tequila & triple sec” – and is a local favorite.

Next up is another Brookside hot spot: the Flying Horse Taproom and their incredibly tasty Red Sangria. Housemade to order with strawberries and blueberries, you’ll be feeling all kinds of fruity fantastic after sipping on this local cocktail.

If you find yourself running errands in the Brookside community this spring, go ahead and stop by the Bier Station on Gregory Boulevard to pick up a ready-to-drink cocktail. Are you suspicious of a canned cocktail you can take with you and savor at home? The Boulevard Fling Blood Orange Vodka and Soda might just change your mind!

Mocktails

For the ones who want to join the party but don’t want the alcohol, Ellen’s found a few new springtime finds for you, too!

At Parlor in the Crossroads of Kansas City, you can have a great time with friends while sipping on their Zero Proof “Blue Mule.” This perfect mocktail is made from ginger beer and includes blueberry, mint, and lemon for all the fresh springtime vibes.

Another great spirit-free option can be found at the popular Campground. While the non-alcoholic golden ale does contain small amounts of alcohol, the Juniper Ridge Yerba Santa Sun Tea is a soothing and subtly sweet option that will leave a kiss of honey after each sip.

One of Ellen’s go-to’s is Heineken 0.0 which you can order at many local places . “Because they don’t use heat to remove the alcohol (which changes the taste) poured in a glass you can’t tell the difference.”

Make Your Own Margaritas!

Celebrating Spring in Kansas City but not looking to go out? Ellen is finally sharing a family favorite: her dad’s secret Margarita Recipe!

Ellen says that while it may look like a simple recipe it is still her all-time favorite.
