Don, a native of Kansas City who had been living in Seattle for 30 years, was ready to return to his hometown with his wife, Katharine. “Ellen had stocked the home with food for us and brought over some of her own furniture for us to use,” Don remembers. “She even had an air mattress ready so we’d have a comfortable place to sleep!”
